Compiling the HTML
To compile the HTML into a self-contained executable:-
- Navigate to the page you want to be the "Home Page" (the first
page that appears when the user runs the resulting executable).
- Select defaults for the Background, Text and Hotspot Colors from the View Menu.
Your choices will be what appears when the user first runs the .exe but he can change
them later.
- Select the default font size, and proportional and fixed font typefaces (be careful
here - don't choose something the recipient of the .exe is unlikely to have - if
the user doesn't have the font you choose it will default to Arial (or System in
Japan)). Again your choices will be what appears when the user first runs the .exe
but he can change them later.
- Enable or disable the Toolbar and Status Bar, depending on whether you want the
compiled .exe to start with them visible or not.
- Select the File/Compile menu item, and complete the Compiler
Options dialog as required.
- Specify the required name and location of the .exe in the standard File/Save
dialog box that appears and press OK. (You can watch the progress of the compile
in the status bar at the bottom of the window).
- Test your resultant compiled executable. Note
that the executable is a 16bit Windows program, which will run on Windows 3.x, Windows
95 or Windows NT.
- We currently (July 1996) have no plans to introduce a version of InfoCourier
that produces 32bit executables, as this would restrict the platforms they could
be viewed on. We will review this on an ongoing basis.
